Every year for the last ten years, a lay group of people associated with the Immaculate Heart of Mary Oratory in San Jose, CA, arranges a commemoration of Father Magin Catala, the saintly Franciscan missionary who labored 36 years at Mission Santa Clara at the Mission Santa Clara Chapel on the Santa Clara University campus.. Father Catala died on November 22, 1830. The annual commemoration is scheduled as close as possible to Father Catala’s death anniversary. This year, the commemoration will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. on November 21, the evening before Thanksgiving.

Canon Raphael Ueda will celebrate the High Mass at the chapel's main altar.  The Mass will be followed by approved prayers for the canonization of Father  Catalá at the Catala side altar. Witnessed testified that the figure of Christ on that crucifix over that alta detached His arms and embrace Father Catala while the priest was levitating while praying there for long hours.
