All Saints Day Party ~

November 1st, 2015

A big thank you to all the children of the Oratory for braving it out in front of one of the largest All Saints Parties we have had in may years.

~ St. Mary Oratory Annual Picnic ~

In face of the oppressive temperature this year, our annual Oratory picnic pushed ahead with our courageous team, begining with the culinary grilling and preparations by the Knights of the Altar.

Naturally it was enjoyed by all present.

Later many worked of the extra calories in an honest game of shoes,

or Volley ball, . . . .

. . . . or for those more agile, a fastpaced game of soccor (or football as you may call it).

To round off the event Canon Bovee once again drew for the winners of the silent aution.

~His Excellecy Bishop David J. Malloy, visits the Oratory~

On Sunday August 9th, Bishop David Malloy, bishop of Rockford, made a patoral visit to the Oratory. While Canon Talarico was celebrant, His Excellency assissted at Holy Mass in choro, as well as preached the sermon.

Afterwards Holy Mass, His Excellency greeted the faithful in the church hall  with a light buffet organized in his honor.

Lenten Retreat

St Mary's welcomed newly ordained, Canon Joel Estata, on the Feast of St. Benedict, Saturday March 21st, to preach a mid-Lent morning of reflection. Together with our traditional devotions, customary for such days of recollection, Canon Estrata gave two  edifying conferences, 'Confession: 101' --which augmented Bishop Malloy's (Bishop of Rockford) Lented emphasis on frequenting the sacrament of Confession--  and 'The Cross- Our Ladder to Heaven.'

On Sunday, March 29th, Canon Estrata gave his 'first priestly blessing' after both Masses. The faithful of St. Mary Oratory also had the pleasure of assisting at a Solemn High Mass offered by Canon Estrata.
